Connecting Domains to HubSpot

Important note: Please do not connect domains until you've cleared it with our team, as it will impact your live (current) site.

Please read this:

If you're not planning on moving to HubSpot CMS but are getting onboarded to HubSpot Marketing Hub, you'll want to create a subdomain and connect that subdomain to HubSpot (for your blog and/or for landing pages). Please clarify with our team before taking any action there. Please see below for more information on landing pages/blogs.

The same goes for Service Hub: if you're looking to build your knowledge base on HubSpot, you will need to set up a subdomain for that KB (see below).

If you're only using Sales Hub, there is no need to connect any domains (apart from email domains).

Domain Types

As a minimum, a primary (brand) domain and an email sending domain should be

connected to HubSpot.

Primary Domain

A primary domain is a domain associated with your company's brand. For example, for Unlimited Tech Solutions, our primary domain is unlimitedtechsolutions.com. Note this domain does not have a leading subdomain such as www.

Your primary domain can be used to set up subdomains in HubSpot to host different content types.

Secondary Domain

A secondary domain can be used to host microsites or landing pages you wish to keep separate from your main company brand.

Secondary domains can also host the content types listed above for primary domains.

Redirection Domain

A redirection domain is used to redirect from one domain connected in HubSpot to another. The most common example is redirecting from your primary domain to a subdomain hosting specific content.

A redirect domain is used to redirect traffic from unlimitedtechsolutions.com to www.unlimitedtechsolutions.com

Email Sending Domain

An email sending domain is used to add DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) records to your company domain, providing an additional level of email sending authentication to your HubSpot account.

Content Types

Content types allow us to configure different subdomain names to host different types of content. This is often used when some content is hosted within HubSpot and other content is hosted by another application.

Website

Only available in accounts with CMS Hub, this allows web pages to be hosted www.unlimitedtechsolutions.com for example.

Landing Pages

Landing pages can be hosted with an alternative subdomain if your account does not have a CMS Hub subscription or your website is hosted on another application and the www. subdomain is not available to HubSpot.

An often-used example is go.unlimitedtechsolutions.com

Blog Pages

Blog pages can be hosted with an alternative subdomain if your account does not have a CMS Hub subscription or your website is hosted on another application and the www. subdomain is not available to HubSpot.

An often-used example is blog.unlimitedtechsolutions.com

Knowledge Base

Knowledge base pages can be hosted with an alternative subdomain if your account does not have a CMS Hub subscription or your website is hosted on another application and the www. subdomain is not available to HubSpot.

Often used examples are kb.unlimitedtechsolutions.com or knowledge.unlimitedtechsolutions.com

Email

The web version of emails can be hosted with an alternative subdomain if your account does not have a CMS Hub subscription or your website is hosted on another application and the www. subdomain is not available to HubSpot.

Often used examples are mail.unlimitedtechsolutions.com or email.unlimitedtechsolutions.com
